UPCOMING/ONGOING VACCINATION PROGRAMME INFORMATION

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccination programme

Northern Ireland has launched a Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccination programme to protect high-risk groups, including pregnant women (from 28 weeks) to protect newborns, and adults turning 75 on  or after September1, 2024. Eligible individuals will be invited by the practice 

Pregnant Women

Those who are pregnant from 28 weeks of gestation to provide passive immunity to the baby.

Infant protection – Vaccination in pregnancy HSC Trusts will be responsible for vaccinating those who are pregnant when they reach 28 weeks gestation. These individuals will be able to book a vaccination on the Vaccine Management System (VMS) booking platform or will be offered vaccination when they attend for routine ante-natal appointments.

HSC Trusts Maternity services should refer those eligible to vaccinating teams during routine appointments and promote the programme - please speak to you midwife regarding referral.
